Playas del Coco Information

The condos are located in quaint Playas del Coco, the oldest fishing village in Costa Rica and a short 25 minute drive from the Daniel Oduber International Airport, just outside of Liberia on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica in the province of Guanacaste.  The number of available activities in and around Playas del Coco is astounding.  Some of the activities include:  scuba diving, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, surfing (in Tamarindo, Witch’s Rock or Ollie’s Point), whitewater rafting, horseback riding, bird watching, canopy tours & zip lines, Santa Rosa National Park, Arenal Volcano, cycling and just relaxing by the pool or on the beach.

There are numerous restaurants in Coco, many that are within walking distance from the condo.  There is also a bank, internet café, post office, full grocery store with excellent produce, mini mart, numerous dive shops.

There is a bank at the Super Luperon (grocery store) but if you plan to go here...bring your patience...the line is always long - they have a cash machine but there is a line for that too - no one takes travellers cheques except the bank.

Try the one at the Do It Centre...you passed it on the way from the airport...or try the Scotiabank which is also near the airport.

Use USD or Colones which are approximately 500 to 1 dollar....yes...a few groceries at the Super Luper will be 65,000 c !!! not to worry - you get used to it. When people quote you in colones (pronounced cul o nays) and you only have USD - just smile and say "in US dollars?"

Many people speak a smattering of english and many speak english quite well...you never know
I find if you struggle with a little spanish and they try out their english on you....you can usually get what you need.
